Portland Cement Zambia To Finally Receive Justice, Sources Confirms
The case of Portland Cement Zambia can be easily regarded as one of the longest running open corporate cases in Zambia. The case was started many years back when the cement factory was illegally taken over by the Ventriglias. While the Ventriglias, used forces to capture the plan illegally, Dr. Rajan Mahtani decided to take the case to the court rather than scooping to the level of the Ventriglias. Since then, the case has been going on without any resolution.
Portland Cement Zambia was initially run under the leadership of Dr. Rajan Mahtani. During his leadership, the factory flourished and received many accolades for its constant surplus production and high-quality end products. The cement factory was also known for its payment and wage structures which were above industry average and constantly increasing. Dr. Rajan Mahtani is notable for his contributions to the society and establishing practices that benefit the less privileged sections of the society. With these successes, the cement factory quickly rose to prominence and became one of the favorite employers in the region.
However, things have changed since the illegal takeover of the factory by the Ventriglias. As per the latest sources, the factory is in ruins and the production is almost negligible. Majority of the workers have been either fired or left due to non-payment of wages. At the same time, there is no one to look at the factory assets and equipment which are prone to damage and theft. Such condition clearly indicates that the Ventriglias never had any intention of running the factory. If the factory is not given back to Dr. Mahtani now, chances of revival and production might become completely nil.
