Judge Handling The Portland Cement Zambia Case Makes A Final Judgment With Shocking Revelations
The final
judgment on the Portland Cement Zambia was recently announced by the
judge handling the case at the Lusaka High Court. As per the
announcement, the claims made by Dr. Rajan Mahtani were rejected and
the other party was given authority over the cement-manufacturing
factory. Experts and media have considered this judgment as
misdirected. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is one of the biggest names
within the Zambian corporate, with numerous successful companies
under his name. His companies such as Mahtani Group of Companies,
Finsbury Investment as well as Finance Bank Zambia have not only
achieved financial success, but have also received praise for their
focus towards the underdeveloped and underprivileged sections of the
society.
The case of
Portland Cement has been going on for more than ten years during
which Dr. Mahtani submitted numerous evidences such as signed
shareholder’s agreement, financial exhibits, and testimonials as
well as independent audit reports which were enough to prove his
legal ownership over the cement factory. Despite these strong
evidences, the final judgment was given against Dr. Mahtani’s
claims. Before the final judgment, the judge handling this case
announced that the case hearing is closed and the final verdict will
be given after evaluating the evidences and testimonials submitted by
both parties. This was positive news for Dr. Mahtani as his evidences
were much stronger than the other parties as described above. This
announcement of closure of case hearing was almost guaranteed a win
for Dr. Mahtani. As a result, it was a complete shock for Dr. Rajan
Mahtani as well as his lawyers and other experts when the final
judgment was given against his claims.
To refute this
final judgment and save Portland Cement factory, Dr. Rajan Mahtani
was left with no choice but to registered another appeal at the
higher court Zambia against this misdirected judgment
made at the Lusaka High Court.
